Fertilizing and Planting Trees, Sharing Seeds & Fixing Your Garden's Soil with Beans and Pulses at Copley Community Orchard

Hi All!

Join us this Saturday, April 13th at 9:30AM for our monthly (and 3rd of 2024!) work party at Copley Community Orchard!

It will be a day filled with learning, nature, and community. Here's what you can look forward to:

Learn all about how to fertilize fruit trees and bushes, plant apple trees, and help prepare and share this year's seeds.
We will also be tending to the native plants in our naturalized area. This is a very exciting project we are undertaking this year in partnership with the Invasive Species Council of BC.

At 10:00, we are so fortunate to be learning from Loki Wallace from Sowing Kits Seeds & Pulses. Beans are a workhorse in the urban garden. Although balcony gardeners might be hard-pressed to grow a winter’s worth of dried beans, beans’ nitrogen-fixing abilities make them an important addition to any garden, including pollinator gardens or container gardens! Learn about different varieties that will work in your setup, growing tips, and how to get the most out of your legumes.
Community Potluck

Bring your favourite dishes, cutlery, and drinks to share with fellow nature enthusiasts. It's a great way to strengthen our sense of community and enjoy a tasty meal together.

Spread the word, invite your friends, and let's foster a deeper appreciation for our environment while having a fantastic time together.

🌳Remember to Support the Orchard!
As you may know, Copley Community Orchard relies on donations to sustain its operations since it is not a City of Vancouver park. The orchard's funding comes from grants and personal contributions, making your support invaluable. If you are able to contribute, online donations are preferred, but we also accept cash for your convenience. The suggested donation for the season is $20.00 to $50.00 or $5.00 per event.
