Collingwood Recreation Society (CRS) is excited to host a series of community reuse and recycling initiatives in Joyce–Collingwood. These events help families save money, reduce waste, and build connections with neighbours.
Whether you’re new to zero waste or already a dedicated recycler, there’s a place for you here 💚
1. Community Repair Café
Don’t toss it—fix it!
At our Repair Café, volunteer “fixers” help community members repair:
- Small appliances (e.g. kettles, lamps)
- Clothing (simple mending, hemming, buttons)
- Small electronics (where possible)
- Bikes and scooters
- Toys
We’ll do our best to give items a second life and keep them out of the landfill.
2. Community Recycling Drop-Off Days
Some items are hard to recycle in regular blue bins. At our community recycling events, we’ll accept selected hard-to-recycle materials, such as:
- Soft plastics and packaging (where accepted)
- Small electronics and cords
- Batteries and light bulbs
- Textiles and clothing for reuse or recycling
Exact accepted items will be listed before each event.
