Event Scheduled: Disability Tax Credit Information Session – Don Davies, MP

Join host Don Davies MP and special guest Peter Julian MP for a hands on discussion on the Disability Tax Credit (DTC), how to apply, and how it can qualify you for the Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP). This session will be a friendly and informative discussion where you’ll learn eligibility criteria and other useful tips. This is a great opportunity to learn how to obtain upcoming dental coverage as well as potential tax refunds.

What is the Disability Tax Credit (DTC)?
The DTC is a federal program that delivers significant benefits to disabled Canadians. It is a non-refundable tax credit that helps reduce the income tax that people with physical or mental impairments, or the supporting family members, may have to pay. It aims to offset some of the costs related to the impairment. To qualify for the DTC you must submit a T2201 Disability Tax Credit Certificate. If you think you may be eligible for the DTC, you should apply. DTC eligibility opens the door to other federal, provincial, or territorial programs, such as:
Registered disability savings plan
Canada workers benefit disability supplement
child disability benefit
multigenerational home renovation tax credit

Why is it Important?
If you qualify for the DTC, not only will you potentially qualify for other federal and provincial programs, you will also qualify for the Canada Dental Care Plan (CDCP) under the disability criteria. This will give you and your loved ones earlier access to the CDCP than the general public.

Special Guest:
Peter Julian MP:
Peter Julian is the MP for Burnaby-New Westminster. He is the NDP House Leader, and Critic for Canadian Heritage, Public Safety, and is the Deputy Critic for Finance. Prior to his election to the House of Commons, Peter worked as a Financial Administrator and was the Executive Director of the Western Institute for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing. During his twenty years in Parliament, Peter has worked hard for the people of Burnaby-New Westminster by helping them with federal issues such as employment insurance, pensions, citizenship and immigration.
